Fish & Photos for 2015

New Years Day 2015:  My first and second fish of the new year: a fine pair of mountain whitefish that were caught and released in a local river...

You take way more pretty pictures than my blue-collar shots.  Lol.  In my mind though, any whitefish is a beautiful thing to photograph.  Absolutely appreciate having these local wild fish.

I will fish anywhere and find beauty in it.

Managed to get out today to practice and was successful in bringing a few fish to a pair of very cold hands... It started to snow a bit today but was beautiful out there despite the cold.

Way to go Mike.  :)  I had to wait till today to try my hand for 2015. So Ron Schiefke and I  drove down to the Cow for  a few hours.  Water high and a bit murky, but the fish were pretty friendly.  Here is a shot of one decent Rainbow.  Two Steelhead sort of promised to be in a picture as well, but changed their minds when they saw the little net :'( :'(.  Had a great time, hooked about 10, including the Steelies and landed 6, all Rainbows, couldn't find a Brown to pose for me today.
I Fish - therefore I am!

Kevin and I ventured out today to practice our Buggy technique's. We had a descent day and managed to find some whities and some Cutties. Heck... Kevin even tried to imitate a fish today going for a full underwater swim :o. Now I know how Kevin does so well, when you are not looking he quietly swim's around in the hole and BINGO he 's on to fish! :D He was a trooper and stuck it out for a while before the chill set in.

Here is a nice buck Kevin wrangled. Love the marking's!!

Here is a nice fat doe I found late in the day.

I swim because I can. What I see while swimming is of no importance to the rest of you.  8)

If someone says you fish too much, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Walked a little bit of river today. The last few outings have been pretty slow so it was nice to get the first fish of 2015 out of the way. I have switched to using 6x instead of 5x and noticed a lot better contact with my flies. I have however broken off as my 5wt doesn't do the best job protecting the lighter tippet.

Very nice, Devon!! :)

I totally agree, as it's amazing how the right tippet can improve your ability to get your flies down and improve your contact and sense of feel, which ultimately increases your success rate!

Hopefully you'll be able to come out to one of our friendly competitions... ;)

Johnny and I took care of the first of the year on the first. =)
2 species whites and cutthroat, and also on streamers and drifting.
Sorry, but you weren't catching that fish anyway.....

Amazing how the fish appearance changes from venue to venue. The top game fish in BC as far as I'm concerned.
