Fly Fishing Canada has developed a national ranking system which allows anglers from across the country to track their ranking on a national scale. The current competition guidelines and ranking system and formula for calculating your NRPs can be found here: http://flyfishingcanada.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5b029ce65d81225ba06f72821&id=a52936f55e&e=184ab26571 )

Here are the 2017 National Ranking Points (NRPs) that have been recorded as of October 3rd, by the competitors that have paid for their Competitor Cards last season. Current NRPs for the 2017 season are based on the average of a competitors best 2 results, which may include their previous year's NRPs if it's greater than their second best competition result in 2017. Results for both river and lake competitions are posted in order to provide some insight on how and where the points were earned.

Competitors wishing to have their competition points recorded on Fly Fishing Canada's NRP Leader Board are required to purchase a Fly Fishing Canada membership (competitors 18 and younger are not required to purchase a membership, but must register as a member of Fly Fishing Canada in order to have their results included).

Thank-you,
Todd Oishi - President of Fly Fishing Canada

Few correction Todd,
1. Sorin took a second place at FFC# 2017-9: Ontario Spring Open Apr 8
2. the FFC# 2017-11 and FFC# 2017-12 results (or competition names) are switched. This doesn't affect the NRP though.
3. as a heads up, Provincial QC will be on Aug, 12-13th and Mark Anderson Tournament will be on 28-29 Oct, both sanctioned and both 2 days comp.
It's great to be able to see provisional ranking through the year. Thanks Todd for doing this.

You're very welcome, Ionut! Thank-you for pointing out the corrections, which is why I would ask that every competitor checks their NRPs for accuracy, after the results from each competition have been added to this list. It’s a bit complicated to do the initial update, gathering results, and verifying the NRPs from all of the FFC sanctioned competitions, but will be fairly simple process when the results are submitted for verification.

I will continue to do the updates as the results are submitted from the event organizers (on a daily or weekly basis). I will also be requiring event organizers to submit the results to me (as I've taken on this role) within 7 days of the conclusion of their event, so they can be reviewed, verified, and added to the NRP leaderboard.

My hope is that providing more frequent updates will help to stimulate more participation at the competitions that are being held across Canada, as now, everyone is fully aware of where they stand on the NRP leaderboard, and what’s possible and can be achieved if they get out and participate at upcoming events!

For me, the quality of a trout is not measured in inches or pounds, but rather by the journey and circumstances that allowed our paths to cross...

2017 NATIONAL RANKING POINTS UPDATE as of September 23rd, which includes the NRPs earned at the North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships:

Here are the 2017 National Ranking Points (NRPs) that have been recorded as of September 23rd, by the competitors that have paid for their Competitor Cards last season. Current NRPs for the 2017 season are based on the average of a competitors best 2 results, which may include their previous year's NRPs if it's greater than their second best competition result in 2017.

Please note that I have revised the format for Fly Fishing Canada's 2017 NRP Leader Board to help identify how the competitors that have registered for this Leader Board have earned their points at various competitions. This new format should make it much easier for selection committees and competitors to identify which competitors are potentially best suited and have the required skill set for the venues that are selected for upcoming championships.

Current NRPs for the 2017 season are based on the average of a competitors best 2 results, which may include their previous year's NRPs if it's greater than their second best competition result in 2017. This new format will also make it much easier for competitors to calculate their position on NRP Leader Board through the season.
