Winter Stone- Frenchie Style

A mix of Semperfli materials for the cocktail. .1mm Silver wire, 120D Floss, Micro 2.0 mm UV Straggle Sf0050 black and bit of coq tail and some orange UTC. Hook is a Hends BL200 Size 14 with a 3.8 mm Tungsten Small Slot Bead

I really like this fly.  It looks like a little beadless black stone fly imitation I usually fish as a dropper.  Will tie some of these.

Thanks all. I have fished winter stones for over 40 years on Stauffer creek. We have never caught a Brown on a adult winter stone which seems curious (especially so when the hatch is heavy)  but also makes sense when you look at how active the nymphs are just prior hatch time. There seems to be a lot of movement towards the marginal region and from what I have witnessed the nymph hatches to an adult in the water subsurface, which is unlike other stoneflies that hatch in a terrestrial world. We have also witnessed very few rise forms to the adult over all those years on the same water section of the spring creek.
