Skagit River Softie
« on: June 01, 2018, 06:28:04 AM »
I havenít shared a pattern in a long time so here is a very effective soft hackle pattern I use on the Skagit River that is a staple in my box. Thin to win.

Hope it brings a few to the net for you this year!

Hanak 230 BL , 12-16
UTC 70 Brown Olive body
Glo Brite #11 ribbing
Olive Squirrel dub thorax
Guinea fowl hackle, one side stripped, one turn for collar

Note: I tie the body and rib first, cover in a thin layer of UV clear cure for durability and then proceed ...

Cheers,

Mike

I think I could walk that river all day without catching a fish and still have a good day.

Ok, ok, one fish to break the goose egg. Wait, ok ... just one rainbow and one Bull trout because the Bulls are fun too. Oh, but the Westslopes, i forgot  the Westslopes. Ok three fish and itís a good day. Wait, Nymphs AND drys. Four fish ..just four. Hang on, Callum will get more than 4 fish. Ahh, ok just one more fish than Callum - that works. Just one more fish than CJ and itís a great day!
