Title: A good start to the Stillwater season
Post by: Mike Learmonth on May 19, 2013, 09:17:21 PM
Cliff Notes:

Up early. Drank lots of coffee. Drove a long time. Missed my first two fish. Moved spots - changed tatics. Patience was rewarded!

A nice 22":

And a few more to boot:

Looks nice Mike!  Thanks for sharing.

Makes my day of yard work look less thrilling.   ::)

Yes, that was me the previous weekend. Timing was good though - the hatches were steady all day and consistent in size and coloration so one fly took everything I had to show for the day once I got it dialed in.

Ha!

That sucks when you go a long way and the fishing gods don't cooperate. I'm heading up there on Saturday so hopefully the bad luck has all worn off!

Had that happen to us last year. Drove out for a red eye trip, fished for 8 solid hours and caught 4 fish and those were about 8 to 10" long.
How good a deal is it going to be for the Echo/Loop set-up you use? lol

You're just getting it out of your system now Johnny so it won't be there later during the big comps!   :)

Either that or you are doing it on purpose to lull the rest of us into a false sense of security, making us think (wrongly) that you are going to have a bad year...  Very sneaky of you Johnny.  ;)

My timing the last three times out have been horrible. Gord D and I figured out that damsels were just starting and that was the one fly that got us hits and some fish. On the Friday Gord lost four and I lost 2 all were good size fish. Thing was since they were being picky you had to have the right size and color or natta! Gord had a good pattern and was dialed in on his DI3 just wish they were REALLY keyed in but that was not happening.
There were a lot of guys that were getting zip and was pretty funny watching boats going here and there trying to find something.

Chris.... I love to play poker and I have learned that cards come and go, so now I sit and wait for my luck to change and I'm hoping those aces start popping up in three weeks my friend ;)

And to Max... I will never touch Randy's fly :o........EVER....... ;)    Sorry Randy :D
