The final event of the 2019  ACFF season brought sunny skies and windy conditions to the Calgary area. 12 anglers enjoyed the hospitality and fishing of lake X. Many quality fish caught including a 59 cm Rainbow by Mike Briggs. We also welcomed a new angler to the group today for her first comp. Louise fished well to earn 6’th place. Congratulations to all the competitors.

The fourth event of 2019 showcased some tough fishing conditions. A mix of Brown, Rainbow,  and Brook Trout made it to the score cards. Congratulations to Justin for the win and for Michael and Travis’s best finish’s ever on the tour. All my appreciation for those that hauled boats and equipment. See you in July!

April 6, 2019

Bow River, Calgary, AB

14 competitors fished all 6 beats set up along the Bow river in South Calgary on Saturday, April 6. Weather and water flow were stable and clarity was excellent for this time of year. 53 Rainbow trout, brown trout, and Rocky mountain whitefish from 30 -53 cm filled the nets of nearly all competitors over the two 3-hour sessions. All fish were over 25 cm and scored two points.

Condolences to the family. Thanks always for the support Mac, you always had my back.

There is something to be said about the commitment and passion shown by the 15 competitors that joined us over the weekend. The temperature ranged from -2 to 3 Celsius the entire competition. A total of 10 cm of snow and 20 mm rain fell from start to finish. Kudos to each of you for showing up and sticking it out in less than ideal conditions. See you on October 13. Looking for a single angler to complete the last team.

A two day Loch-style Fly Fishing competition located at Dolberg and Spring Lake. No indicators, No anchoring, no split shot weight. Two competitors per boat through random draw. $35 entry fee or $15 if you can provide the applicable boat (cartopper 12-14 feet). Para drogues are allowed but must be supplied by the competitor. Cone drogues are available to those without. The league has 4 boats available for use. Space will be limited by the amount of boats made available through the kindness of our competitors.

!Competitors (and agents of)! -No fishing of the venues begins Sept 8-14.

Two person teams. Those without partners will have a teammate drawn.
