Fly Fishing Product Reviews / Wychwood Para Drogues
« on: April 04, 2017, 12:28:26 PM »
Just ordered a Wychwood Para Drogue from $48.  (plus a lot of other stuff) Pretty good supplier. Shipping is fixed at $13.95 and free if over $150.  They also carry a wide range of hooks, especially one of my favourites "Fulling Mill Heavy Weight Champ" hooks in 10s and 12s.  One of the best, and strongest, hooks for big trout. Nice gentle beak that holds very well.  Orvis brings them in under their name as well but charges double the price!!!  Check the place out. The owner is from Aberdeen, Scotland and, as a competitive flyfisher himself, is keen to bring in items that are unique to the sport.

Rivers and Stream Fly Fishing / Fish & Photos - 2014
« on: January 03, 2014, 04:48:05 PM »
First time out this year and  a "hat trick" of three species. Coho, Cuttie and Rainbow. The Coho gave my little 3wt ESN a good run but it won out in the end. I was going to break it off, since it was pretty dark, but it was the first fish I hooked in 2014, so that might have destroyed my luck for the whole year!!!

It was cold, the water was higher than I expected and pretty cloudy, so I was happy to get these few fish. The Rainbow was a surprise, since there are supposed to be none in this little river.

The little bit of sun that reach the river was highly appreciated.

Looking forward to a lot more this year.

Can prospective competitors assume that 3 flies will be allowed on the Bow and that there will not be a 60 day "no fishing" rule applied to the Bow or other river venues??
