About Me

ABOUT ME...
I am fortunate to live in a log home on a hobby farm that is situated beside the Thompson River in Kamloops, British Columbia. Throughout the year I spend a lot of my free time exploring and fly fishing our province's pristine rivers and lakes. I have fished for a wide variety of freshwater and saltwater species of fish.

THE SPORT OF COMPETITIVE FLY FISHING...
I am actively involved in the sport of competitive fly fishing, serving as a competitor, team captain, coach, promoter, and organizer. I started fly fishing in 1994 and entered my first fly fishing tournament in 2002 and first national championship in 2005. I am currently serving as the president of Fly Fishing Canada. It has been a great adventure and journey that has provided me with the opportunity to meet and spend time with some extraordinary fly fishers, coaches, teammates, mentors, and people that I am fortunate and proud to call my friends!

NORTH AMERICAN LOCH-STYLE FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP...
At the North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships I won 3 consecutive individual gold medals at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 NALS; an individual silver medal in 2013; 6 team gold medals; and 3 team silver medals at this international fly fishing championship (a combined total of 13 medals at 9 North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships).

COACHING...
For the past 9 years I've proudly served as the head coach for the Western Division of the Canadian Youth National Fly Fishing Team. My coaching staff and I have been responsible for coaching and mentoring youths from British Columbia and have sent 14 youths from our region to compete and represent Canada at 5 Youth World Fly Fishing Championships; 7 North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships; and 2 America Cup International Fly Fishing Tournaments.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I've developed a series of fly fishing seminars that I present free of charge for those that are willing to listen and wish to learn more about our sport. In these seminars I share many of the highly-effective fly patterns, techniques, and tactics that have been shared with me during my career as a competitive fly fisher and member of our national fly fishing teams.

My ongoing quest for knowledge and deep-rooted passion for fly fishing have provided a rare and unique opportunity for me to meet some exceptional anglers and mentors, as well as a reason to travel to some truly special and remarkable places that I would have otherwise only dreamed of visiting perhaps one day somewhere in the distant future...

Signature:
For me, the quality of a trout is not measured in inches or pounds, but rather by the journey and circumstances that allowed our paths to cross...
