Show us your gear bags and vests - rivers
« on: March 01, 2014, 06:36:08 PM »
Ok guys - show us your gear!   :o

Inspired by some recent facebook postings, I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures of our gear packs or vests we use on the rivers and show how they are roughly packed together (and what is inside).  I'm sure we can all learn from each other, and new anglers to the Competition scene may benefit significantly.

Note: no wise cracks about people taking pictures of their gear and "showing" everyone please...  :D  That's what photo copy machines are for.   ;)

This is pretty much how I set up for a river comp.  Chest and back packs (an integrated Amundson set).  I essentially view myself as a walking island in the river. Anything I want or need I better have with me as efficiently as possible - I don't want to wade back to shore to get something, and anything I need to use regularly has to be in the pockets most easily accessible.  Most of that is the chest pack portion, though the sides of the back pack are also handy.

There are ziplocs for sheets sheets and maps - plus a pencil.
Spare granola bar (chocolate dipped)
First aid kit.
TP.
Multiple spare spools of tippet (in case one falls into the river).
Spare sighter material.
Multiple lines for streamer fishing.
A plastic bag for whatever... usually other people's garbage.
Whistle, hook sharpener, scissors, nippers, floatant, swiss army knife...

The tug is the drug

Our tradition is that of the first man who sneaked away to the creek when the tribe did not really need fish.  ~Roderick Haig-Brown

I should really give this up, wrapping bits of fluff around a hook for fun just can't be normal!!

Bumped to see how your vest and/or chest pack storage system has evolved...
