After Tunkwa Lake
« on: June 15, 2014, 06:13:18 AM »
Hello all, After Tunkwa Lake Team Northern Boyz is hoping to take a few hours in of fishing on the return home to Alberta. We are hoping to do some Pink or Chum Salmon. Any suggestions or fly selection we should be looking at?

You may have to head far west and wait a few more months for those guys Gary..

Even years are the big runs of pinks for the island which usually start around July, chum show up in October-ish.

There could be some summer chinook in a river some where?..  Or big pennask RBT's in a few lakes on the way back that will fight like a chinook!

Sorry to inform you, but they don't show up until late August and into the fall...
For me, the quality of a trout is not measured in inches or pounds, but rather by the journey and circumstances that allowed our paths to cross...

Also no Pinks this year so it's more like end of September for Chumlies.

Is there any good trout streams in the neighbourhood that we should consider fishing for 3-5 hours on our way home?
