This is my first year fly fishing and right away I was encouraged by Todd to entry as many competitions as I could. I followed his advice and wow. Don't get me wrong, I still have LOTS to learn but I am way ahead of where I would have been on my own. During these comps I have had the privilege to fish with some excellent fisherman who I have been able to watch,question,and have a good time with. So welcome to the comp and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have this year.

What a day, wet and windy but still lots of fun
first time i have fish a small lake with white caps , plus i don't remember making that many casts in one day before
had a few hits but they were flies hitting my head , man tough to fly cast in a wind like that
but great experience and good practice for those windy days on the water
thanks to everyone who helped put this together and nice to meet you all
so looking forward to next year
and thanks to those who let me use there boats
hope to get one soon, just need a place to store one

Now THAT puts it in perspective!     Leave it to the guys across the pond to explain things...  Lol.

I must admit that the pictures do it no kind of justice!  If the lake wasn't well shelterd, or was a tad bigger, we'd of not been able to fish it I am sure.  But it did get much more managable on the afternoon.

I do look forward to going back again soon.

Great thanks for Freshwater Fisheries for putting decent fish into the lake - with a mix of larger and smaller trout!  I was pleased with the scrappiness of many of them, and their willingness to chase flies to the boat.  That shot of Todd's is beautiful.

I'd also like to make an "Honorable Mention" with respect to a fish Max Cohen got.  Alas, it was caught behind the boat so didn't count, but it was an impressive 49cm, with a huge girth.

Was a fun day. I enjoyed fishing with Ron, even if his boat is a bit cramped. But everyone got into fish, I gave him a fly and he managed a really decent one. Actually put up a good fight, and did not want to get in the net, but he sure did! Glad everyone got some action, and the weather was... fun.

Todd, not that it really matters, or makes any kind of difference, but why does it say I only caught 2 fish on the rankings. Did I mess up the paper at all? I remember I got 4 fish to hand, one being the bass, and I know the measurements of them because ron and I laughed about it going 29-28-27 cm, and them getting smaller and smaller! Haha. But I just noticed that on the tables.

Anyways, looking forward to next year. Hopefully we have better days than Buntzen and Hicks. And better weather than Mill!

Looks like just a typo - if you check up further in Session 2, it definitely shows you got 3 fish and 1920 fish points.  So nothing got missed.  I think when it got typed onto the web site here, a 2 was hit instead of a 3.  Darn numbers are too close together on the keyboard I think!

I will change that.

How big was the bass?  Just curious if anyone got any bass bigger than 4 inches...

Wet (not so good) and windy (good) for sure.

I'm blaming poor performance in the second session on the dead battery, but I have a hunch it wouldn't have changed things too much in any event. At least my gillie was good on the oars (thanks Rob).
