Sow Bugs...
« on: March 21, 2012, 08:23:21 AM »

A photo I took of a cluster of Sowbug that I found from a Fraser Valley stream (coastal region of southwestern British Columbia). Sowbugs generally go unseen and unnoticed by the vast majority of anglers. They're most abundant in the slower-flowing sections of many of our smaller streams and coastal rivers. At times the trout that reside in these same stretches of the river have their stomaches packed full of sowbugs. Scud (freshwater shrimp) patterns will often suffice if you haven't any good sowbug patterns in your fly box...

For me, the quality of a trout is not measured in pounds and inches, but rather by the journey and circumstances that allowed our paths to cross...
